When I bought them, you had to install Uplay as a DRM mechanism, but you didn't actually need to set up a Uplay account, so I didn't. Fast foward a bit, and I believe I had to make one for Far Cry 3, so I did and that's the one Basicallysteam is where you have your files stored and dl the game from, but it is running through U-play and will be treated as a Uplay game.
